Making Sense of Spiritual Tools
So should you be considering either consulting a Spiritual Intuitive and or shifting your energies into being a part of this work, I hope that this blog post has been of value to you!
Just like any craft, career pursuing a Spiritual Path requires the development of its own set of ‘muscles’, fitness and skills. Engagement requires learning, reading, and practice in the disciplines that involve heightened ways of living, being and doing.
The tools and practices that facilitate inner shifts and changes and often times may not be seen externally, certainly not in the beginning stages of this journey. This inner transformation seems to take a lot longer than the learning of a physical skill. This because for many of us there is an unlearning and a letting go of all of the focus on external conditioning that comes from media, marketing and education where the focus has been about moulding people to fit a paradigm.
Memories of who we were when we incarnated onto the planet as babies and children, of our connection to Source have all been but obliterated for many. So, for me the Spiritual Path and personal development is all about waking to truth, the Truth of who we truly are. Thomas Merton, the Christian Mystic refers to is as crossing the abyss that separates us from ourselves in order to know who we truly are. This is all about the opening of our hearts. Whilst none of this seems to be new or unearthing a major revelation, so many still suffer in their humanness because of their external focus on people, places and things being the panacea for our own discontent.
So, for the Dreamer, Truth Seekers, Light Worker and Wisdom Keeper, for those who are serious about embracing their true natures, their inner journey and honoring the call of their still small voice of their hero and heroine opens that doorway to their awakening.
In the beginning this can be a complete overwhelm. And for many the question is where to start.
For me what is key, is that we are active participants in our own journey – we are not the passive recipients waiting to be stuck down with an overwhelming a-ha enlightenment moment when all is revealed. This in my view is a childlike notion and one that is reminiscent of the instant gratification of the material world. Awakening to our Spiritual knowing and truth is like emerging out of a long slumber and is a progression through a spiral. The more we train ourselves, the more we have access to Spiritual insight and consciousness. What is also key, is not expecting or demanding perfection from our practices. Some days are better than others; sometimes insights are lightning flashes of inspiration, others are not. Sometimes, it is slow, slow going as our different bodies (chakras) are either unblocking or are catching up with aspects of ourselves where there has been significant growth. With the opening of our hearts for example, it takes time for our intellect to make sense of what has transpired in and with our emotional body.
And so whilst the focus of this blog is on Spiritual tools and practices, and there is a plethora of information on the internet, it is more, as with this kind of writing, a post that is writing itself, in line with making sense of the deluge of information that is out there.
Tips in accessing Spiritual tools and practices:
1. This is probably the most important – keep your critical faculties alive- evaluate the options of what resonates for you – take what you like and leave the rest. You know yourself and what resonates for you better than anyone else.
2. Listen to your inner voice, the voice of your intuition and follow that. Connect with your inner voice and trust your awakening knowing. You are far more attuned than you give yourself credit for. Allow yourself to be led, to be in flow as opposed to attempted to drive your growth. This form of learning is way more subtle compared to the mental body learning we are used to.
3. Check out the sources of information and people you consult. Look for evidence of sincerity, reliability, credibility. There are many charlatans out there looking to make money off trusting Souls who are opening up to their Spiritual Souls – like any other industry – and make no mistake the Spiritual and Personal Development industry is worth billions and billions of dollars. Make sure you have your own inner healthy boundaries in place and as with point above, keep your critical faculties alive.
4. Be curious, be in a state of awe and wonder, open yourself up to possibility of what could well be in store for you and let go, sur-render to the process. All of the old baggage and blocks to our Soul Self need to be cleared away in order to access our Truth.
Living a life as a Dreamer, Truth Seeker, Light worker and Wisdom Keeper encapsulates living a life of purpose, meaning, service and contribution. The world needs you, the gifts and talents that you have to offer the world. Embrace your journey, be a part of building a world that is compassionate, caring, where there is enough for all, where no harm is caused one to another, where judgements are suspended and kindness, joy form the cornerstone in a consciousness in which we are all invited to thrive with joy.
